Its summer and you want the air conditioner to blow refreshing cold air. Unfortunately, your AC has different plans and decided it'd rather see you suffer in the heat.

You will need AC repair, but why? These are a few common reasons the AC won't blow cold air, but for proper diagnosis bring your vehicle to your local auto repair shop.

AC Leak

The AC system uses a refrigerant fluid to cool air. If the system develops a refrigerant leak it can be very difficult to detect because the fluid evaporates on contact with air. Using special tools and an ultraviolet fluid that is introduced into the system a mechanic can determine if there is a leak or not and where it is. This test will be conducted if the AC system shows signs of low refrigerant pressure.

Broken Fan Motor

The fan motor at the front of the vehicle's engine can be a source of trouble for an AC system if it fails. Some vehicles have two fans, one for the AC condenser and the other for the radiator. In hot weather areas it is important that both fans are working so that your engine stays cool, along with you!

Other reasons that a AC unit may fail in your vehicle include a blown expansion valve or a loose or broken drive belt. A slipping compressor clutch can also cause a fuse, a clogged or dirty lack of cool air. The best way to determine what is wrong with your car's AC is to have a certified mechanic look over it.
